psychotherapy online
Powerful, client-centred therapy that gets to the heart of the matter
Hi, I´m Alan Ross, an English psychotherapist working online with clients in the UK via video-conferencing.
I provide safe, confidential, online psychotherapy for adults.
Now there is a reason why you are here and it is probably because you are suffering in some way and you are looking for relief. Some things may seem out of your control and you don't know what to do about them. You may feel stuck, like something is holding you back from being who you want to be and living the life you want and you hope to make some changes.
You may be struggling in a specific area of your life; at work, in a relationship, with your health, or you may be going through a difficult change in your life.
You may be suffering from stress, anxiety, fears and phobias, depression, loneliness, sadness, lack of purpose or motivation, anger, PTSD or trauma.
I work with a whole range of presenting problems and I can guide you through these difficult times and help you to achieve the lasting, positive change you are looking for.
I charge £95 per hour.
Please book a FREE initial consultation where we can meet, get to know each other and see how we can work together. No obligation.

MY THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist
I am certified in several types of therapy, so I combine or "integrate" these therapies into my own way of working to provide my clients with what they need the most
Focusing is the main therapy I use
Focusing is gentle, respectful and powerful
It helps you, the client, get right to the heart of the matter
It helps what is stuck to move and what is painful to heal
Focusing is my preferred way of working for two reasons:
(1) It works!
Focusing works because it calls us to do something radical, something completely different than what we do with any problem or pain that we have.
When we feel bad, we do everything in our power to not feel that way, to move away from it, to distract ourselves from it, to escape... we push it away, deny it, we try to get rid of it. And this makes sense because it feels bad, painful, sometimes unbearable, so we do our best to not feel it.
Focusing asks us to do the opposite... to turn towards it and keep it company. Like I said, it is radical! And it works.
It works because we really can't push anything away that is within us and when we turn towards it, acknowledge it, say hello to it, keep it company, and give it the space to express itself, something magical happens... it softens, what was stuck begins to move, emotions release, it heals, it dissolves and ceases to be a "problem".
(2) It teaches you an essential life skill
You've heard the saying "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat forever." Focusing works with this same principle.
As we do our therapy, not only do you get the transformational benefit of the therapy, you also learn-by-doing the method of focusing. You learn an essential life skill that you can continue to use when you need it.
This is the skill of how to deal with what happens inside you... how to be with your thoughts and feelings in a way that improves and maintains your mental and emotional well-being.
We all have troubling thoughts, even conflicting thoughts, painful feelings, sometimes unbearable... we all react in situations only later to realise what we've done and wish we hadn't, we have times when we feel up and times when we feel down... our inner life, our thoughts and feelings, determine how we are in the world, how we behave and perform.
Learning how to effectively deal with or relate to your inner world is life changing and will contribute to your on-going development and personal growth beyond the therapy room.

Professional development
I undertake regular supervision, which is where a therapist consults with another therapist to ensure best practise is being maintained with clients and all opportunities for growth are being undertaken.
My continued professional development is of the utmost importance to me and as such I am currently working on attaining full accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) which is a voluntary register for psychotherapists in the UK. It is a comprehensive process of which I am currently completing year 4 of 4.
Natural talent
I believe that we all have something we’re naturally good at, where we excel, like we were made to do it and for me it’s when I’m helping people one-on-one.
My mind is made to figure things out. It takes what’s complex, messy and unclear and makes it simple, clear and useful… and when I do this, it seems to help people.
I’ve been called “Mr Squeegee” because people say things become clear for them when they talk with me, they know how to move forward.
I’ve been there too
You’re not alone in what you are going through. We all get stuck, struggle or find ourselves suffering at times in our lives.
I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs in my life, both internal and external struggles, that I’ve overcome, so I know what it’s like. I know what you’re going through.
I’ve found that it’s important to get help at these times and get help early. Don’t sit in it alone. Reach out so you can to get the help you need to improve your situation.
Let's meet and have a chat to see if working together would be the right next step for you. Book a FREE initial consultation here. No obligation.
